Children’s Day Celebration – A Day Filled with Joy & Learning

Shree Vidya School celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm and warmth, creating a memorable day filled with laughter, learning, and joyful experiences for all students.

The celebration began with a morning prayer from 8:10 to 8:20 am, setting a peaceful and positive tone for the day. This was followed by an exciting Teachers vs. Students Cricket Match, where the students cheered wholeheartedly, enjoying the friendly competition and sportsman spirit on the field.

Around 9:30 am, students moved from the playground to the basement, where the formal celebration began. Teachers welcomed the children and briefly shared why Children’s Day is celebrated, highlighting the importance of childhood, joy, and learning.

To make the day even more special, teachers presented group songs dedicated to the students, which filled the hall with smiles and energy. The excitement continued as Ms. Diksha, our special guest for the day, conducted a delightful Puppet Show and Storytelling Session. Children listened with fascination as stories came alive through expressive voices and vibrant puppets.

Following this, Ms. Diksha demonstrated creative ways of making craft items using waste materials, such as old wedding cards, encouraging the idea of sustainability through creativity. She also conducted a short workshop for teachers, teaching them simple yet beautiful paper crafts like birds, caterpillars, and cats.

During the break, students enjoyed a sweet refreshment treat that included cakes and toffees, adding to their excitement and making the day even more delightful.

After the lunch break from 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm, the celebration continued in the basement, where teachers presented another round of group songs. Children enthusiastically sang along, filling the space with joy and laughter.

As children prepared to head home, the school added a special touch to the farewell by giving one rose flower to each child, symbolizing love, care, and appreciation for every student.

Seeds of Change: A Green Initiative with Give Me Trees Trust”

Today, on 11th November 2025, Shri Vineet Vohra from Give Me Trees Trust visited Shree Vidya School. Give Me Trees Trust is one of India’s largest tree planting and maintenance organizations, having planted crores of trees across the nation. The founder of the organization, popularly known as Peepal Baba, has dedicated his life to environmental conservation through massive tree plantation drives.

During his interactive and insightful session, Shri Vohra spoke about the power of nature and shared his inspiring journey of working with schools, societies, and even jails. In jails, he has conducted workshops and counselling sessions on establishing various types of nurseries such as home plant nurseries, herbal nurseries, desert nurseries, and forest nurseries. In schools, he has been instrumental in setting up eco clubs under the guidance of teachers, encouraging students to lead greener and more sustainable school environments.

Activities Suggested by Shri Vineet Vohra

1. For Specially Abled Children: A sensory activity where children can feel, touch, and smell plants in pots to develop empathy and connection towards nature.

2. For Pre-primary Students: Similar sensory activity - students feel, touch, smell, and observe plants to build curiosity and compassion for nature.

3. Blindfold Activity (All Age Groups): Students are blindfolded and asked to identify plants by their texture, promoting sensory learning.

4. Blindfold & Draw: Students feel a plant while blindfolded and then attempt to draw it from memory.

5. Smell & Guess: Students identify plants based on the fragrance of their leaves.

6. Plant Hunt: Students receive plant descriptions and are challenged to identify or locate them within the school premises.

7. Tree Signature Activity: Senior students trace bark or leaf impressions of trees, creating a “tree signature.” Junior students then identify trees during nature walks using these signatures.

8. Leaf Impression Art: Students press dried leaves on coloured dots in their art files to create unique impressions - an innovative twist on traditional leaf printing.

9. Pistachio Shell Art: Colouring pistachio shells and using them to make imprints in art files to enhance concentration and fine motor skills.

10. Seed Collection Activity: Students collect seeds from fruits, vegetables, and dried flowers at home or during nature walks. The collected seeds will form a Seed Bank, later used for plantation drives.

11. Group Planting Activity: Students form groups of four - each taking a role: soil, manure, seed, or water student. Under teacher and gardener guidance, they learn the process of sowing seeds-mixing soil and manure, filling pots, planting seeds, and gently watering them.

12. Personal Plant Tracker: Every student plants their own sapling and maintains a Plant Tracker Chart in class, recording the sowing date, germination period, watering schedule, growth height, and maintenance details.

13. Waste-to-Green Programme: The school can initiate a recycling drive where students bring used milk packets and chip wrappers from home. These can be reused as containers for planting saplings. The grown plants can be gifted to parents, guests, or donated to NGOs - promoting recycling and greenery.

14. Aloe Vera Benefits: Aloe Vera has antifungal and antibacterial properties. Its gel can be mixed with water to create a natural pesticide spray that helps prevent fungal infections in plants.

15. Aloe Vera Rooting Hormone: Mix 1 tablespoon of aloe gel in 1 glass of water, stir well, and soak plant cuttings for 12–24 hours before planting. This mixture promotes faster root growth, prevents fungal infection, and strengthens new roots naturally.

16. Bio-Enzymes and Bio-Fertilizers:
Bio-Enzymes: Created from kitchen waste and used to nourish plants.
Bio-Fertilizers: Contain living microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, termites, and algae that enrich soil fertility.

17. Termites - The Hidden Cleaners of the Jungle: Termites are often called the silent kings of the jungle for their role in decomposing dead leaves and wood into nutrient-rich soil. They recycle organic waste, maintaining forest balance. A termite queen lays one egg every 3 seconds, forming large colonies underground or inside dead trees, especially in warm tropical regions.

18. Spiders - Nature’s Organic Pesticide: Spiders serve as biological pest controllers by feeding on insects such as flies and mosquitoes, thus protecting plants naturally without harmful chemicals.

Interesting Facts Shared by Shri Vohra

1. Tecoma Plant: Acts as an organic fencing plant since animals do not eat it. (Planted in our school premises.)

2. Pattharchatta Plant: A herbal plant beneficial for kidney stones. (Planted in our school premises.)

3. Weed Walk – Euphorbia Hirta (Badi Dudhi): When boiled and consumed (not raw), it helps relieve joint pain. The school garden also has Euphorbia Hymifolia (Choti Dudhi).

4. Rama and Shyama Tulsi: Sacred and medicinal plants. Their leaves should not be chewed directly, as they contain trace mercury-like compounds that may cause gum irritation or kidney stones. The safe way to consume Tulsi is to pour hot water or tea over the leaves, allowing beneficial oils to infuse into the drink.

5. Fallen Leaves as Ground Cover: Using dry leaves or grass as mulch helps retain soil moisture and supports plant growth.

6. Mulching Process: Spreading dry leaves, grass clippings, or plant creepers over the soil helps maintain moisture, reduce heat, and improve soil fertility naturally.

7. Syngonium Plant (Arrowhead Vine): A NASA-approved air-purifying plant that removes toxins like formaldehyde and benzene. However, in India’s humid climate, its sap may be toxic if ingested, causing mouth irritation or vomiting.

Let’s Grow More Trees

1. Palash Tree (Dhak/Tesu - Flame of the Forest): Its vibrant flowers are used to make natural Holi colors and can also serve as a natural hand wash that is gentle and skin-friendly.

2. Vidhara Plant (Elephant Creeper): A large climber with big, soft, round leaves resembling elephant ears.

3. Rakhi Bel: A unique plant that entwines itself around others for support, a beautiful symbol of connection and care in nature.

The session by Shri Vineet Vohra was highly informative and inspiring, encouraging everyone to adopt sustainable habits and nurture a deeper connection with nature.

Let’s pledge to make our surroundings greener and our hearts more compassionate towards Mother Earth.

Unity in Spirit, Diversity in Celebration: Shree Vidya School Marks Independence Day & Janmashtami with Joy and Pride

Shree Vidya School celebrated a vibrant and heartwarming Independence Day function, beautifully integrated with Janmashtami celebrations, reflecting the school’s strong child-centric vision and commitment to holistic education. The event was a perfect blend of patriotism, culture, and devotion, bringing together students, teachers, and parents in a truly inclusive celebration. The event commenced with the solemn flag hoisting ceremony, invoking a deep sense of pride and nationalism. This was followed by a stirring address by the Principal, who reminded everyone of the unparalleled sacrifices made by the brave men and women who serve the nation. Referring to the recent Mission Sindoor, the Principal said: "The courage of our Indian soldiers, as demonstrated in Mission Sindoor, is not just an act of bravery — it is a lesson in selfless service and unshakable dedication. Let us not just salute them, but strive to emulate their courage in our own lives."

The Principal also took the opportunity to share an important sustainability initiative the school has been undertaking: "Since the 1st of August, we have been running a campaign in our school — 'Say No to Single-Use Pens.' These pens harm our environment and contribute to plastic waste. I encourage all our students and parents to switch to refillable pens. Small actions lead to big changes, and our children are already leading the way."

Following the address, the atmosphere turned festive with a range of vibrant cultural performances by the students. Each act echoed themes of responsibility, environmental awareness, patriotism, and joy:

  • Grades 5–7 delivered a soul-stirring patriotic song and a powerful skit emphasizing the value of honesty.

Adding layers of excitement were interactive elements like the lucky draw coupon announcements, an e-quiz specially designed for parents, and the recognition of the Star Performer of the Healthathon event. A special appreciation was extended to the Grade 4 students who confidently anchored the program, showcasing poise and leadership. What made the event truly special was the participation of every single child in the school, embodying the school’s belief in inclusive, experiential learning.
