LEARNING THROUGH EXPLORATION: MONTESSORI IN ACTION
WHAT IS MONTESSORI EDUCATION?
At Shree Vidya School, we believe in nurturing the holistic development of every student through an innovative curriculum that goes beyond traditional academics. Our curriculum is designed to cultivate critical thinking, creativity, emotional intelligence, and physical well-being. It integrates globally recognized methods, modern technologies, and a balanced approach to ensure that every child is empowered to reach their full potential.
- MARIA MONTESSORI
Montessori education is a child-centered approach to learning developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. It emphasizes hands-on, self-directed learning, where children explore at their own pace and are encouraged to make choices that foster independence, responsibility, and problem-solving. The environment is designed to promote freedom within limits, with age-appropriate materials and activities that cater to different developmental stages. Teachers act as guides rather than traditional instructors, supporting children's natural curiosity and desire to learn. Montessori education aims to cultivate well-rounded individuals, focusing on intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development.

How we work in Montessori?

EPL – EXERCISES OF PRACTICAL LIFE.
Exercises of Practical Life (EPL) exercises are a core part of Montessori education and focus on helping children develop independence, coordination, concentration, and a sense of responsibility. These exercises are designed to mirror everyday activities, so children learn skills they can use in their daily lives.
SENSORIAL ACTIVITIES
Sensorial activities in Montessori are designed to help children explore and refine their senses—sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. These activities focus on providing hands-on experiences that allow children to better perceive and distinguish differences in the world around them. The aim is to develop their sensory awareness, concentration, coordination, and cognitive skills.

MATHEMATICS
In Montessori education, mathematical activities are designed to make abstract concepts tangible and concrete, allowing children to explore mathematical ideas in a hands-on and sensory-rich way. These activities foster a deep understanding of math, as they are aligned with the Montessori philosophy of self-directed learning and exploration.
LANGUAGE
Language activities in Montessori are designed to foster a love for reading, writing, and communication, with an emphasis on developing a child’s ability to express themselves and understand language in a natural, engaging way. Montessori language lessons are hands-on and child-centred, allowing children to explore language through sensory experiences and self-paced learning.

CULTURAL ACTIVITES
In Montessori education, cultural activities play a central role in broadening children's understanding of the world, fostering curiosity, and promoting respect for diversity. These activities aim to connect children with the wider world and encourage them to appreciate different cultures, environments, and histories.
